This elegantly simple wall lattice once fit inside tracks in the floor and ceiling for easy removal. Though visually simple, close inspection reveals the lattice to be finely beveled. The piece is covered in natural black tree lacquer. The piece is from Shanxi province and dates to the 19th Century. It would have been part of a large set enclosing a private courtyard.
