A Gothic Revival Oak Trestle Table

A Gothic Revival Oak Trestle Table

$5,300
This exceptionally sturdy trestle table has compact dimensions that make it ideal as a desk or kitchen dining table. The piece is entirely made from solid white oak, its top consisting of four planks of uneven widths, joined together and secured to two wide legs by wooden dowels. The legs are connected by a thick trestle, secured in place by wooden pins. The joinery technology is very ancient; the same as found on 400-year-old monastery tables. However, the patina of the piece is fairly moderate -there no deep gouges, burn marks or other disfigurements to indicate extreme age. It likely dates to the early 19th Century -Gothic Revival. It can be left as-is, in its current mildly-distressed patina or refinished according to the customer's preferences in any stain or color. its simplicity and honesty permit it to blend into any kind of decor, modern or traditional. It would make an excellent lap-top table!
