A Monumental Nagaland Totem

Carved from Saal wood, this piece hails from Nagaland in northeast India. The totem depicts eight water buffalo heads. Though abstract, they embody the characteristics of the Asian Water Buffalo; down-turned horns, long ears, a flat forehead and a short snout.
