A Nagaland Rice Pounder

A traditional Nagaland rice pounder, hand-carved from a single block of hardwood and shaped into a long trough with dual recessed grinding wells. Once used in village households for husking rice and grain preparation, the piece now stands as a sculptural object with remarkable surface texture and presence. Its pale, time-softened patina and tool-scored interior reveal years of utilitarian use, each mark a trace of daily life in the Naga hills. It can be used as a coffee table with a glass top.
