A Seated Terracotta Court Figure

A Western Han Dynasty terracotta funerary figure portrayed in a calm seated posture with flowing ceremonial robes and restrained facial features characteristic of early imperial Chinese sculpture (206 BCE–220 CE). Created as mingqi, or spirit objects, figures of this type were intended to accompany and serve the deceased within elaborate tomb complexes.
