A Chinese Lunchbox Lamp

Originally made as a lunchbox, this rounded vessel was constructed from narrow strips of cypress wood secured with metal bands. The wood was finished in bright cinnabar-red lacquer to protect it from moisture, while its natural insulating qualities helped keep food warm. The original fitted lid remains part of the design. Now converted into a custom table lamp, the lunchbox forms a sculptural base beneath a simple black shade.
