A terracotta Touareg water jar with a rounded bottom for standing in the sand, now standing on a simple metal base. The Tourareg are a tribal people of the Sahara desert region and live mainly in Mali, Niger and southern Algeria. This vessel dates to the early 20th Century, was made in Mali and imported to France in the 1950's.
