A Burmese Betel Nut box made from rattan covered in cinnabar lacquer. The box has a large overlapping lid that snuggly seals the contents against drying out. Interior trays hold condiments. Chewing betel nut was a mild narcotic and popular social habit. Each box was unique and caried around by its owner.
