This handsome, well-patinated piece hails from Alsace, France. The molded and dentil cornice sits above a cherub-decorated frieze and stepped architrave that is supported by three classic Corinthian order columns. Beneath ornate capitals and fluted pillars, the two corner pedestals are raised on scrolled acanthus leaf-form feet. The central cabinet’s interior has a removable shelf that is covered by two narrow doors, each hand-carved with foliate motif medallions surmounted by S-scroll framed putti. Additional storage comes in the form of a large single drawer housed at the base of the wardrobe. The piece is original with restoration to be done in consultation with the purchaser.
