The Golden Triangle was honored to host a fundraiser for Room 2 Read, the global literacy non-profit with a very active Chicago chapter. The group is raising funds this year for schools in Viet Nam, specifically for donation of Vietnamese-language picture books to school libraries. Some large donations actually funded whole libraries, with a librarian for a year! The Group, headed by Kay Nixon, raised over $110,000 at the Giving Tuesday party. This is our third time hosting Room 2 Read and the second time in our new store on Grand Avenue. About 75 people attended the event.
Willow Room catered the delicious and abundant food as well as a lavender-infused specialty cocktail that was the hit of the evening. Special guests included Tiffany Drake from Girls Opportunity Alliance Obama Foundation and a delegation from Kappa Alpha Psi led by Joe Lewis.
